What is Better? Harry Potter or Twilight?

Question

What is Better? Harry Potter or Twilight?
I love both series, I like Harry Potter more but I wanted to see who like what better.

Answer

Harry Potter for sure.brbrHarry Potter should never be brought down that many notches to be compared to Twilight it just shouldnt happen and violates proper literacy. Harry Potter is complex and steeped with meaning and symbolism every single word that Rowling wrote had thought behind it every name given had a purpose. Twilight falls flat.brMeyer didnt have enough power to properly write the series in which she attempted, I feel. Her word choice was poor and she obsessively recycled words so often that it became tiresome we get it, Meyer, Edward was quotGodlikequot and his skin was quotmarblequot. She had nothing else and considering how many words were jammed into that many hundreds of pages, reading her work became painful. brThe plot line crumbles at the slightest prob. Between discoball vampires, fake werewolves, and strange mortals, it all began not making sense. There was, in truth, nearly zero plot in the first book Meyer basically slapped on a conflict at the end because she probably realized that, quotoh shoot, a book needs a conflict.quot The first few hundred pages are of Bella staring awkwardly at Edward.brTacking on to the plot line problem, Meyer basically went against herself on the last book. She basically had no plot, not even to begin with, but, at the chance of another wad of cash and under the pressure of fans, she slapped together the last book, Breaking Headboards. I mean...Breaking Dawn. Throughout the series, she managed to build together solid enough explanations of the fantasy world in which she had created, only for the reader to discover that the entire time, she was messily building a piƱata come the last book, she whacked her creation and the entire ordeal of it exploded. In a more literal sense, she contradicted every single thing in which she told the reader making it that none of it, when applied the laws in which she herself had created, make any relevant sense by the end.brMore importantly was the lack of properly fleshed characters. We all love Harry Potter not only because of the brilliant plot but because of the character in which dance around throughout those many pages the one thing that I love in books the most and the thing that I focus a lot of energy on as an author myself is the characters. Characters, when properly designed and puppeted, if you will, become realistic and enjoyable we can easily identify their characteristics and they can easily be portrayed as real people. Rowling was successful at that and created fully developed manikins of sorts, inside which was the complexity and reality that we find within ourselves. Meyer, in comparison, created cardboard cutouts there was nothing to her characters. Bella was a needy girlfriend in lust, Edward was controlling too perfect to be real, and Jacob was demanding and hormonal. The problem, though, came in the ending Meyer became too attached and sought a happy ending for the entire cast of her creations thus, an undesirable and unrealistic ending in which I am extremely disappointed in.brNot to mention, there werent very good messages throughout the books. As an example, the second book basically taught girls that men are the center of our world and without them we collapse entirely. This is further mirrored in the kind of girls in which so bury their noses in the creases of these books maybe Twilight is printed on drug paper and swoon over cardboard.brTwilight was a good laugh, but its wise to stick to Harry Potter.

quotNo one would have believed, in the last years of the nineteenth century, that human affairs were being watched keenly and closely by intelligences greater than mans and yet as mortal as his own that as men busied themselves about their affairs they were scrutinized and studied, perhaps almost as narrowly as a man with a microscope might scrutinize the transient creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water.quot brbrWar Of The Worlds, H.G. Answer

. The Silmarillion Dr. Tolkien called this his quotmost important workquot and spent most of his life working on it. The first section, when the characters are introduced and fleshed out has a bit of a history book feel do not let that stop you! The story is so touching that it twists your insides around and wrenches your heart out, and the language is just beautiful. It provides a much deeper understanding of the events and mythology in the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. It is my favorite novel.brbr. J.R.R. Tolkien Boxed Set The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings Top of its genre DUHbrbr. RiddleMaster Absolutely amazing characterisation. Very original and engaging story line. A slightly weak ending, but wonderful besides thatbrbr. The Chronicles of Narnia I reread these as an adult, and they are even better than they were as a child! I can not emphasize just how good these are! My favorite was the Last Battle!!brbr. A Wizard of Earthsea The Earthsea Cycle, Book and The Tombs of Atuan The Earthsea Cycle, Book were excellent! The Farthest Shore The Earthsea Cycle, Book is ok, but the ending is a real disappointment, and the others past that I recommend avoiding like the plague. Also, the SciFi Channel movie is TERRIBLE!brbr. Homeland The Dark Elf Trilogy, Part Forgotten Realms The Legend of Drizzt, Book I Bk. and Exile Part Forgotten Realms The Legend of Drizzt, Book II absolutely stunned me. Sojourn The Dark Elf Trilogy, Part Forgotten Realms The Legend of Drizzt, Book III, is much weaker. The other quot Drizztquot books are not even in the same class at all and get extremely repetative.brbr. The Riftwar Saga was exceptional most of the time. Great characters and story!! The biggest weakness was in the last two books where one character is made into a know it all for almost any problem. He doesnt destroy the books though. Highly recommended! Magician Apprentice Riftwar Saga and Magician Master Riftwar Saga, Book are absolutely amazing, Silverthorn Riftwar Saga, Volume is somewhat weak, and A Darkness at Sethanon Volume IV in the Riftwar Saga gives a nice strong ending.brbr. The Belgariad, Vol. Books Pawn of Prophecy, Queen of Sorcery, Magicians Gambit amp The Belgariad, Vol. Books amp Castle of Wizardry, Enchanters End Gameis an excellent series by David Eddings. I specifically recommend against reading any of his further series, as he tends to plagerize himself, using the same ideas and plot lines. As for these two books, they are very original and powerful the only weakness is that he seems to have a problem with writing women characters. They all are bad tempered and snippy and so forth. But it doesnt ruin the series.

It was just chosen by California Readers to be part of the California Collection.
